Stefan Schmitzer was born in 1979 in Graz. He studied German philology at the universities of Graz and Vienna. He was co-editor of the »unZine« (2003–2004) and lives in Graz. In his first novel, wohin die verschwunden ist, um die es ohnehin nicht geht (wherever she might have gone, it’s not about her anyway) the reader is taken to troublesome spots in our cities, our social lives.
Schmitzer was awarded the promotion prize of the city of Graz (2007), the manuskripte promotion prize (2008) and the literary scholarship of the province of Styria (2014).
